Steward S. Brosius, 93, of Strasburg, went home to be with his Christ and Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017.
He was born July 24, 1924, in Union County, a son of the late Clair E. and Theresa (Shaffer) Brosius, and stepmother, Jennie Brosius.
He was married to Betty Taylor who preceded him in death in January 2015. During their time together they lived in several states around the country as well as Germany while Stew was in the Air Force.
Stew settled in northern Virginia in 1964, retired from the military, then worked as Registrar for North Virginia Community College until his final retirement in 1985 when he and Betty moved to Strasburg.
Stew enjoyed golf over all else which he played throughout his life and most veraciously in his retirement years nearly to the end.
He is survived by one son, Keith Brosius and wife Andrea Leontire, of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Ruth Brosius and husband Herman Reiner, of New Hope; one granddaughter, Alexandra Brosius; two sisters, Violet Gemberling, of Sunbury, and Avis Brosius, of Harrisburg; one sister-in-law, Alvesta Brosius, of Selinsgrove; and two brothers, Eugene Brosius, of Northumberland and Gerald Brosius, of Poconos.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Carson, and Bernard Brosius, and three sisters, Kathryn Auman, Emma Schnoepfher and Lena Eberly.
A viewing will be held from noon until 1 pm. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury, with the funeral service at 1.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
