Shirley Mae (Boughner) Treon, 90, of Trevorton, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Hi! If you are reading this, you know I have started on my eternal journey with my beloved family: Mother - Elsie Mae (Weaver) Boughner, Father - Harvey Calvin Boughner. My sister, Jane Elizabeth (Boughner) Silker joined my parents in Heaven in 1987. She died of breast cancer - she sure tried to survive but medicine for cancer was not that advanced at that time.

Most people will remember me, or know me as "Mrs. Treon". At five years of age I knew I wanted to be a teacher. After graduation from Trevorton High School in June 1945, I traveled to Asbury Park, New Jersey where I waited tables and cleaned rooms for the tuition payment due at Bloomsburg State Teacher's College (University) in September 1945. I returned to Asbury the second year, but I was running out of energy and could not return the third summer. I graduated from Bloomsburg June, 1949 and started my teaching career in Jersey Shore where I taught for two years before returning to Trevorton. I continued teaching for 30 years in the kindergarten department. At one time, nearly all of the children in town had traveled on an adventure with me. We had unbelievable times! I still love children. They, too, are teachers! God gave me the best.

I married Bruce Treon in 1951 and had a beautiful baby girl, Alyce Marie (Treon) Bostwick who survives with her unbelievable husband, John Scott Bostwick - What an awesome couple! They gave me three grandchildren who gave me five great-grandchildren, Chelsea (Bostwick) Smeltz and Kris Smeltz, of Trevorton, William Scott and Kimberly (Spiegelmeyer) Bostwick, of Mozambique, Africa, Jessica (Bostwick) Reitz and Jon Reitz, of Sunbury. Great-grandchildren, Griffin and Olivia Smeltz, Haley Reitz, and Gavin and Riley Bostwick.

I am also survived by a "Baby Brother" Harvey Boughner and his wife Dottie and their two daughters, Jennifer (Boughner) Miller and James Miller, of Maryland, (Sidney and Lexy) and Betty Jo (Boughner) Zeigler and Jeff of Florida (Adam and Devin).

Have a Wonderful Life! God is always near - as am I! I truly loved you all! Family, students, children, Jamie, Easton and all. See you again - one day!

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel E.C. Church, 615 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton with the Rev. Joshua Notestine officiating.

In lieu of flowers and in recognition of her love for the children, memorial contributions in Shirley's name are suggested to Zerbe Recreation Committee, c/o Angela Wilkinson, 201 S. 11th St., Trevorton, PA, 17881.
