Shirley M. Catherman, 81, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Friday evening, Feb. 2, 2018, at Brookdale-GraysonView, where she had lived for the past five years. She was a former resident of rural Middleburg.
She was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Zechman) Mitchell. On Nov. 8, 1956, she married Guy Q. Catherman who preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1991.
Shirley was a graduate of Middleburg High School.
She retired after 36 years of service from the Laurelton Center. Following her retirement she had worked part time at Rishel Meats.
She was a member of Hummels United Methodist Church, the Reliance Hose Company ladies auxiliary, Middleburg, the American Legion auxiliary, Millheim, and the V.F.W. Post 6631 auxiliary, Selinsgrove.
Shirley enjoyed crocheting, camping with her family at Poe Valley, but her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Gill Derr, of Selinsgrove; two grandsons and their spouses, Rex and Emily Derr and Travis and Robin Derr; seven great grandchildren, Kelsey, Mason, Bella, Trevor, Leah, Bradley, and Bentley; one sister, Darla Loss, of Middleburg
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hummels United Methodist Church, 427 Sassafras Road, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2, with Pastor Carvel K. May officiating.
Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Middleburg.
