Shirley's Story

Shirley M. Bickhart, 91, of Route 204, Selinsgrove, formerly of Northumberland, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at the Manor at Penn Village where she had a resident.
She was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late John H. and Grace (Lyons) McCreary. On Dec. 19, 1963, she married Arthur E. Bickhart who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1993.

Shirley attended Northumberland schools.
She gained employment with L'Aiglon Apparel, Northumberland, was a waitress, and later a homemaker.
She was a member of Brookside Ministries, Shamokin Dam. She loved the Lord, enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to the Gaither Family and watching Christian and ministry television programs.
Shirley was a talented roller skater and took great joy in singing. She was a wonderful cook, creating homemade recipes with ingredients from her own garden.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary L. and Sheila M. Dorman of Northumberland, and Edward L. and Linda K. Dorman of Sunbury; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband of 29 years, Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, William and James McCreary; and one sister, Charlotte Warfield.

Friends and family may visit from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland.
Private interment will be in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
