Shirley A. Bergen, 86, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away on Dec. 25, 2017, at The Williamsport Home.
She was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Mountaintop, a daughter of the late Lyman D. and Crystal (Kirkhuff) Milroy. On Jan. 21, 1951, she married James W. Bergen who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2016.
Shirley graduated from Milton High School in 1949.
She worked at her father's store, Milroy's Food Market, Dial Loan, Beyer and Fortner, and Bucknell University, all in Lewisburg.
She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church, West Milton.
Shirley enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, hunting, and knitting. She liked traveling, going on cruises, camping and traveling in their R.V., and spending time at their river lot and at their cabin in Weikert all with her husband. Shirley also enjoyed going to Montoursville football games.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James L. and Nancy B. Bergen, of Montoursville; one brother, Lyman "Bub" Milroy, of South Williamsport; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey S. and Elizabeth Bergen, of New Oxford, Kevin J. and Sabrina Bergen, of Falls Church, Va., and Katherine A. (Bergen) and William Weber, of Danielsville; and three great-grandchildren, Meredith B. and James B. Bergen, and Liam J. Weber.
Shirley was preceded in death by one brother, Veryl Milroy; and one sister, Jean Aimetti.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by a memorial service at 11, with the Rev. David Smith, pastor of Montoursville Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Church Hill Cemetery, West Milton.
