Serverna B. Young, 95, of Vertie Lane, Milton, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, at The Gatehouse in Williamsport.
She was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Limestonville, a daughter of the late Earl and Lucy (Heddings) Johnston. She was married for 45 years to Ned F. Young who preceded her in death on May 23, 1991.
Serverna attended schools in Exchange and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in rural Watsontown.
She worked for Chef Boyardee during World War II and later worked at the Milton Shoe Factory, Kepler Farms, Furman Farms, the Milton Shirt Factory, the Philadelphia Ship Yard in Chester, and Ranger Joe Cereal in Chester. But mostly she was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She liked to keep a garden and enjoyed the roses and mums that she grew. Serverna also liked to be around her son's Boxers.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Christine Young, of Milton; one brother, Arthur Johnston, of Danville; and one sister, Betty Sommers, of Watsontown.
Serverna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Mearl, Carl, Harold and Myron Johnston; and one sister, Geraldine Simpler.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Jason King officiating.
Burial will be in Turbotville Cemetery.
