Sara A. Kerstetter, 96, of Port Trevorton, entered into rest on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, in UPMC Susquehanna, Sunbury.
She was born April 17, 1921, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Francis and Suie "Sue" (Houser) Newman. She was married to the late Murray Clayton Kerstetter.
Sara attended Independence Grammar Schoolhouse and graduated from Selinsgrove High School.
She was employed at Groce's Silk Mill, Benner's garment factory, and Country Maid Sportswear.
She was a member of the former St. John's United Methodist Church, Port Trevorton and attended Zion (Hall's) Lutheran Church and Witmer's United Methodist Church.
Sara enjoyed making braided rugs, gardening, canning, and cooking. She especially loved her cats.
Sara is survived by her four children and their spouses, Anita Davis, Celia and Larry Stauffer, Murray A. "Mick" and Teresa Kerstetter, and Barbara and Vernon Bauman; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;one brother, John Newman; and one niece.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Witmer's United Methodist Church, 350 Witmers Road, Port Trevorton, with Pastor David Shultz officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills have been entrusted with the arrangements.
