Sandra Walters Saxman, 69, of Concord, N.C., formerly of Northumberland, Pa., passed away at her home on Dec. 5, 2017.
She was born July 23, 1948, in Harrisburg, Pa., the youngest of six daughters to the late Harry E. and Sara E. Walters, of Hersey, Pa. On Oct. 6, 1973, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hershey, she married Harry Edward "Ed" Saxman and her death breaks a marital union of 44 years.
They moved to Northumberland in 1975 and spent 35 lovely years there, until moving to Concord in 2010 after retirement.
Prior to retirement, Sandy worked for 15 years as the secretary to the departments of Communications and Theater at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa.
Sandy loved being actively involved in her boys' sporting activities, and helped run the concessions for the Pineknotter Little League for several years. She was also very active in the Selinsgrove Relay for Life at Susquehanna for many years.
Sandy loved the beach, from the 1990s when her sons worked at Funland in Rehoboth Beach, Del., and later during many trips to Myrtle Beach, other Atlantic beach towns, and three trips to Key West.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua D. and Jenny Saxman, of Germantown, Wis., and Christopher W. and Krista Saxman, of Concord; five beautiful grandchildren, Emily, Julia, Aiden, Natalie and Ryan; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Ouimet, of Palmdale, Calif., and Mary and Barry Timmins, of Hummelstown, Pa., Sara "Sally" Harner, of Athens, Ohio, and Joe O'Donnell, of Middletown, Pa.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Pauline Saxman, of Dupont, Wash.; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Morrett and Dorothy "Dot" O'Donnell.
A memorial service will be planned in Northumberland at a later date.
