Ruth G. Risser, 72, of Iron Bridge Road, Middleburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, Dec. 17, 2017, at her home following a three-year battle with cancer.
She was born March 13, 1945, in Point Township, Northumberland County, a daughter of the late Norman A. and Elnora (Furman) Geise. On Oct. 15, 1966, she married R. Leslie Risser who survives.
Ruthie was a 1963 graduate of Northumberland High School.
Until her marriage she had been employed at Furman Foods as a bookkeeper.
She was a 50-year member of the Richfield Mennonite Church now Richfield Life Ministries Church. She had been a Sunday school teacher and the superintendent of the primary department, and a summer church camp counselor. She had served on different committees at the church and along with her husband, they had served as youth group leaders. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideon's, was a 4-H leader, and for 20 years helped her husband in their wedding photography business.
Ruthie enjoyed cooking and sewing. She will be remembered for sending cards to others for all occasions.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rachel L. and John Mingle, of Richfield; three grandsons, Caleb, Ryan and Luke; one sister, Lois Stuck, of Mifflinburg; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Jody Geise, of Milton, Don and Sue Geise, of Northumberland.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday followed by the funeral at 11, at the Richfield Life Ministries Church, with Pastors Aaron Benner and Joel Snyder officiating.
Burial will be in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
