Ruth's Story

Text size

Ruth F. Haines, 81, of Selinsgrove, went to her heavenly home in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born July 20, 1935, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Franklin and Viola (Dewald) Klinger. On June 12, 1953, she married Carl Haines and together they celebrated 20 years of marriage.

Ruth retired after 30 years of service from Delta Upsilon fraternity, Bucknell University as a cook and frat mother. Ruth was loved and remembered till this day by everyone in the DU fraternity. She loved her job and especially "her frat boys". On weekends she worked at the Ye Olde Meeting Place, Milton.
She was such a loving, caring, and Godly woman. She loved to cook and watch old movies (especially the ones with Clark Gable). Most importantly she loved and adored being with her family and friends. Her family meant everything to her. She was truly our rock and the heart of our family. She touched so many lives and was a mother to many.

Surviving are seven children, John Haines, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Connie (Jerry Butts) Houston, of Moravia, N.Y., Cindy (Stan) Ettinger, of Selinsgrove, Theresa (Al Bruch) Bonaparte, of Ijamsville, Md., Edwin (Tina) Haines, of Mifflinburg, Richard (Becky Wenrick) Haines, of Middleburg, and Carl "Skip" (Michelle Rimmel) Haines, of Jefferson, Md., Bucky and Evie Haines, of Auburn, N.Y., and Bonny Baker Haines, of Selinsgrove; two brothers, William (Linda) Klinger, of Watsontown and Charles "Dick" (Sue) Klinger, of Milton; three sisters, Connie Bower, of Allenwood, Betty (Ken) Walker, of Matthews, N.C., and Maryanne (Charles) Ferguson, of Tannersville; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Joe Bower; and one grandson, Justin Dehart.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shamokin Dam Alliance Church, 102 Alliance Way, Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Wayne Muckle officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Ruth's memory be made to the Shamokin Dam Alliance Church, 102 Alliance Way, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.

The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
