Rose's Story

Rose M. Aucker, 77, of Port Trevorton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.
She was born May 12, 1940, in Port Trevorton, a daughter of the late Albert and Martha (Kerlin) Sprenkle. On Feb. 23, 1957, she married the love of her life, Stanley Aucker, who died on Nov. 4, 2011. They were married for 54 years.

Rose attended Independence Grade School and Selinsgrove High School.
Rose and Stanley owned and operated the Port Motel for 14 years. She also worked at the Selinsgrove State School, Boscov's Restaurant, and the Cross Roads Diner.
She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Port Trevorton and St. Paul's UCC in Verdilla.
Rose loved her family and her dogs, Zeke and Colie. She cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, yard sales, attending auctions, going out to eat, and cooking for her family.
Rose also ran the "camp store" for Camp Spifida, a camp for children with spina bifida for more than 15 years.

She is survived by two children and their spouses, Brian and Lisa Aucker, of Mechanicsburg and Kelly and Tim Hammaker, of Port Trevorton; four grandchildren, Janelle (Aucker) and Josh Garinger, Nick Aucker, Ryan Hammaker, and Zachary Aucker; two great grandchildren, Hailie and Trace Garinger; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Sheila Sprenkle; two sisters and brother-in-law, Carla and Dale Feltman, of Kreamer and Mona Hollenbach and her companion Larry McKinney, of Selinsgrove; her in-laws, Robert Aucker, of Selinsgrove, Marjorie Hoover, of Port Trevorton, Barb Aucker, of Middleburg, Barry and Arlene Aucker, of Port Trevorton and Jim and Carol Gaugler, of Selinsgrove.
She was preceded in death by her soulmate, Stanley Aucker; her youngest son, Neal Aucker; her grandson, Timmy Hammaker; her special nephew, Jesse Wade Sprenkle; her brother, David Sprenkle; two brothers-in-law, David Zimmerman and Ronald Aucker; two sisters-in-law, Helen Zimmerman and Mary Jane Aucker.

In honoring Rose's wishes there will be no viewing or funeral. A private graveside memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the discretion of the family.

The Aucker/Hammaker family would like to thank the Geisinger Hospice Team for their guidance and support over the past four months.
