Ronald Eugene Shipe Jr. With deepest sorrow Ronald Eugene Shipe Jr., 54, of Sunbury, passed away March 11, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by his family who loved and cherished him dearly.
Ronald was born Sept. 9, 1964, at Sunbury Community Hospital, a son of Ronald Sr. and Helen (Stahl) Shipe of Northumberland.

At age 11, Ronald was employed at Strouses Dairy Farm in Northumberland. He worked there until his graduation from Shikellamy High School of Class 1984. After graduation he joined the Army as an Infantryman and served four years of duty in Giessen, Germany.
Ronald held employment at Norman Frantz Trucking as a truck driver. Ronald was employed as a Corrections Officer at Federal Prison Allenwood for 15 years. He was currently employed as a Seargent at State Correctional Institution Coal Township.
Ronald was a man of intellect, integrity, and kindness. He valued above all God, family, and country. He had a witty personality, one which you would either laugh at or with him. Ronald loved family picnics. Each year he would look forward to the family's annual pig roast and clam bake. He was an avid sports fan and could be found watching football and hockey games. Ronald was a man of passion and would do anything for his loving family.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald III and Amanda, grandson, Caleb Shipe of Lock Haven; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Tom McDermott, grandson, Hunter, of Milton; daughter, Holly Rodriguez, grandchildren, Emma, Luka, and Betta, of Coal Township; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lyle and Deb Shipe of Coal Township and Richard and Vickie of Kulpmont; two sisters and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jim Rice of Milton, and Terri Stettler and her fiance Richard Nelson, of Jerymn; his companion, Brenda Rhodes of Sunbury; and his beloved German Shepherd, Ike.
Ronald was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Calvin and Anna Stahl; paternal grandparents, Harry and Elizabeth Shipe; uncles, William Stahl and Calvin Stahl, both of Northumberland, and Robert Shipe of Sunbury; aunts, Sherry Clark of Danville and Helen Yeager of Baltimore, Md.; and nephew, Cory Rice of Milton.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 8.
