Ronald L. Hoffman

Ronald L. Hoffman, 73, of Middleburg, lost his courageous fight with cancer and went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 30, 1945, in Sunbury, a son of the late David W. "Buss" and Gloria H. (Leininger) Hoffman. He was married for 54 years to the former Carolyn J. Zechman who survives.

He was a 1963 graduate of Line Mountain High School.
On Feb. 22, 1965, he began employment with PPL Electric, retiring on Jan. 1, 2018 with 53 years of service.
Ronald enjoyed helping people. He loved to minister using music, playing his trombone, and getting together to play softball. In his spare time he like to mow grass, work in the garden, and put puzzles together. Many Saturday nights he would make homemade ice cream to enjoy with his family and watch pictures on the slide projector. His dedication to a life of service included 25-plus years serving on the Midd West School Board, doing services for the elderly and ministering in his church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Crystal and Tim Shaffer of Middleburg, Chris and Selina Hoffman of McAlisterville, Donald and Bridget Hoffman of Florida, and April and Darvin Anderson of Middleburg; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew, Christian, Jeffrey, Haley, Hunter, Nick, and Brittany; six great-grandchildren, Liliana, Justin, James, Alianna, Jaydon and Layton; brothers, Gary Hoffman of Watsontown, Roy Hoffman of Millmont, and Wayne Hoffman of Paxinos; and two sisters, Rosena Church of Berwick, and Sarah Hoffman of Sunbury.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral at 11, at the Mountain Road God's Missionary Church, Penns Creek with Pastor Rob Dickens officiating.
Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Penns Creek.

Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.

Sympathy for your family. We were neighbors forever growing up and road the bus to school. I graduated with Roy. I just found out of Ron,s death through other friends. They were from a good family .
