Robert's Story

Robert D. Woomer, 70, of Berwick, formerly of Sunbury, went to be with Our Lord on Friday, April 14, 2017, at his home with his family by his side. He succumbed to a short battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born March 26, 1947, in Sunbury, a son of the late Billy and Gladys (Hummel) Woomer.

Robert was a 1965 graduate of Sunbury High School and earned his degree in accounting at Central Penn Business School, Harrisburg. He was a veteran of the Army serving in Korea.
He was employed for more than 25 years as a dispatcher at Lewis Rich Transportation and Mercer Transportation.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury, the Masonic Knapp Lodge 462, Berwick, the Berwick YMCA, the American Legion Post 44, Northumberland, and Moose Lodge 1173, Selinsgrove. He was a lifetime ​member of Tall Cedars Grove and Friendship Hose Company, both of Sunbury, and the Milton VFW Post 1665.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked to fish, hunt, travel, and watch the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Braves.

He is survived by his fiance, Roseann Carver, of Berwick; daughter, Melissa (Woomer) Weaver, of Selinsgrove; grandson, Douglas Weaver Sr. and his fiance, Raelana Scaltz, of Wyoming, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Douglas Jr. and Gracelyn; son, Brian Woomer, of Florida; son, Brad and Sandy Woomer, of Northumberland; grandson, Matt Clark, of Northumberland; daughter, Michelle wife of Bill Stambaugh, of York; granddaughter, Gianna; daughter, Tara wife of Steve Collins, of Maryland; and grandsons, Joshua and Owen.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 110 Chestnut St., Berwick, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Chad Hebrink of Grace Lutheran Church, Berwick, officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.
