Robert D. Metzger, 86, of Milton, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born in Williamsport on April 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Donald L. Metzger and Elma (Ritter) Metzger Heiny.
Bob was a 1949 graduate of Milton High School and had worked as a truck driver for Kepler Brothers, Milton Manufacturing and ACF. He was also an instructor for Professional Drivers in Milton.
He was the last surviving charter member of the Dewey Hollow Hunting Club and was a member of the Keystoners Drum and Bugle Corps. He spent more than 20 years wintering in Florida, fishing daily on his boat.
He is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki and Bill Eberly, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Cindy and Christopher Prosseda, of Milton, Kimberly Jepko, of Elysburg and Valerie Metzger, of Bloomsburg; one stepdaughter, Terry Shawley Smith, of Milton; five grandchildren, Christy Garvey, Daniel Prosseda, Alyssa Dauberman, Megan Rollins, and Tyler Eberly; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren, John Keiser and Amy Keiser George and her husband Michael with whom Bob lived.
He was preceded in death by his companion of 32 years, Eleta M. Shawley in 2014; and a son-in-law, Stephen Jepko.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, where the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Bond officiating.
Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery.
