Robert W. Huggins, 79 of Richfield, formerly of Newport, passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Nov. 4, 1937, at home in Watts Township, Perry County, a son of the late James W. and Katherine (Deiter) Huggins. He was married to Shirley (Moad) Hockenberry who survives, and the late Mabel M. (Shaffer) Huggins.
Robert graduated from Susquenita High School. He served in the Army and was stationed in Panama during the Vietnam War.
He retired from Lift, Inc., Mechanicsburg. He was formerly employed at Steve Peters, Inc., Newport, and was engaged in farming all of his life.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending family reunions, and traveling to the family cabin.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Michelle Huggins and Jeffrey A. and Diane Huggins; five grandchildren, Matthew, Madison, Michael, Hunter and Mason Huggins; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Ann and Jerry Hoffman and Eileen and Ricky Hoffman; stepgrandchildren and their spouses, Shena and Jason Pinto, Wesley and Naomi Hoffman, M. Shane and Michelle Kuhn, Heather and Scott Dressler, and Samantha Kuhn; stepgreat-grandchildren, Daphne, Graham, Noa, Matthew, Christiaan, Cadyn, Jaeden, Alexa, Samantha, Bethann, Coldon and Hailey: two brothers and one sister-in-law, James L. Huggins and Charles E. and Mary Huggins; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ken Zimmerman; two nephews, James Gordon Huggins and wife, Laura, and Joshua Huggins and wife Emily; and one niece, Jaime Rowe and husband Craig.
Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie McCoy and Ida Huggins; and one sister-in-law, Donna Huggins.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 11, at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, with Pastor George Sheaffer officiating.
Burial will be in Hill Cemetery, Duncannon, with full military honors accorded by the Liverpool American Legion Post 364.
