Robert "Bob" Richard Green, 85, of Elysburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at Grandview Nursing Home, Danville.
He was born Dec. 21, 1932, in Valley View, the son of the late Robert Charles and Elda Matilda (Schwalm) Green. Bob married Joan Ann Bycoskie on June 20, 1959, in Sunbury, and they were happily married for 58 years.
Bob graduated from Ralpho Township High School in 1950. He was a member of the State Horticulture Association of PA and the PA Farm Bureau. He was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Danville.
Bob never retired from his life long profession as a successful fruit grower since 1945. He had 100 acres of orchards where he grew mainly apples and peaches. A large amount of fruit was sold wholesale, but Bob and his wife Joan attended the Lewisburg Farmer's Market and Saturday morning curb market in Shamokin for all of their married life.
Along with Bob's wife, he is survived by one daughter and two sons, Julie A. (Green), wife of Michael J. Hricko, of Nicholson, Robert D., husband of Yook-Fung Green, of Cleveland, Ohio, John C., husband of Melody Green, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Robert J., Elda M., and Rose V. Hricko, and Georgia R., Lily E., Marabelle, and Frances Green.
Bob is preceded in death by one brother and one sister, James Green and Gale (Green) Sevison.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Rothermel-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Elysburg, and again from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Danville, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. MarthaSue Moll officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, 59 High Road, Danville.
