Robert George Ammerman, 91, of 1023 Shamrock Mills Road, Paxinos, passed away at 12:01 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born June 15, 1926, in Shamrock Mills, Paxinos, a son of the late William Garner and Julia (Stine) Ammerman. On July 12, 1951, he married the former Bertha Mae Reedy who preceded him in death on June 20, 1973.
Robert attended the Ammerman School in Shamokin Township.
He was employed as a school bus driver, road master and supervisor for Shamokin Township, and had also been a farmer.
Robert was a member of the Stonington Fire Company, AARP, and the Balner Gap Hunting Camp.
He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Scheetz, of Paxinos; one stepson, Donald Kearney, of Coal Township; three grandchildren, Tracey Heath and husband, Jeff, and Hope Scheetz and companion, Charles Munson, all of Coal Township, and Michelle Duncheskie and husband, Lee, of Elysburg; three stepgrandchildren, Jenniemay Zimmerman, Ronald Kearney, and Bryson Kearney; numerous great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Ammerman and Helen Cardell, both of Paxinos.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, William Kearney; one grandson, Captain Robert Scheetz Jr.; one son-in-law, Robert Scheetz Sr.; and one brother-in-law, David Cardell.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Farrow Funeral Home, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin. The funeral will be private with the Rev. Hugh Coulburn officiating.
Burial in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
