Richard S. Zeigler, Sr., 83, of Etters, formerly of Liverpool, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was a retired mechanic, owner of both Dicks Garage in Liverpool and Dick and Sons Garage, New Cumberland, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a Susquehanna Twp. Supervisor in Juniata County, a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Cumberland, Eureka West Shore Lodge 302, Mechanicsburg and Consistory, Valley of Harrisburg, AASR. Dick was a licensed pilot, an avid farmer and golfer, and had a hole in one at Rich Valley Golf Club, Mechanicsburg.
Dick was born in Harrisburg to the late Earl Zeigler, Sr. and Grace (Rohler) Shaffer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Zeigler, two sisters, Joyce Bourinski and Joan Damey, a half-sister Doris Zeigler and a half-brother Brian Shaffer.
He is survived by his wife Helen I. (Dravk) Zeigler; five children, Richard S. Zeigler Jr., of Camp Hill, Randy L. Zeigler, of New Cumberland, Candice G. Zeigler and husband, Kent Ruth, of Lewisberry, Tim Zeigler and wife Eleanor of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jeff Zeigler and wife Elizabeth of Cranford, N.J.; siblings, R. Earlene Smith of Mechanicsburg, Phyllis Eckstine of Mechanicsburg and Earl Zeigler, Jr. of Clio, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 530 Bridge St., New Cumberland, with the Rev. Elaine M. Dent, his pastor officiating. Viewing will be Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
