Richard M. Shurtz, 77, of North Mill Road, Milton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Sunbury, a son of the late Milton and Dorothy (Tanner) Shurtz. On Nov. 22, 1962, he married the former Marybelle E. Heddings and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Richard was an Army veteran, serving after he completed high school.
He was a very skilled carpenter and member of the local Carpenters Union #445.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Amos Gray, of Jefferson, N.Y.; granddaughter, Rebecca Gray, of Stamford, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Edward Minalga and Rilie Falconio-Gray; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Carol Shurtz, of Pittsburgh, and Roger and Pamela Shurtz, of West Milton.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Shurtz; and one grandson, Amos W. Gray Jr.
In keeping with his wishes, services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 124 Main St. Watsontown.
