Richard A. Pinelli, 59, of Lock Haven, died at his home of natural causes on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017.
He was born Jan. 18, 1958, in Lock Haven, a son of the late Frances X. "Mike" and Lois A. (Fecker) Pinelli.
Richard attended Lock Haven Jr. and Sr. High School where he excelled as an athlete, lettering in baseball, basketball, and football. He earned a degree in sociology at Lock Haven University and then operated a small business in downtown Lock Haven before embarking on a career as a public servant in the juvenile justice system.
Sports remained a passion throughout his life, loyally following the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Phillies, and Dallas Cowboys.
Over the years, Richard became a human database of Major League Baseball facts and statistics and often had baseball cards within reach.
He also loved music, accumulating an impressive collection of vinyl, tape, and digital recordings. His favorite artists included Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young.
Surviving are two brothers, Michael F. X. (Lu Ann Myers) Pinelli of Two Rivers, WI and their family; David (Monique Odell) Pinelli of Asheville, NC; three nephews; Ben (Ayan Adem); Daniel, and Julian, several cousins and a great niece, Asha.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his only child, his son Nicholas R. Pinelli. We trust, as he believed, that he is now reunited with his son.
Richard's remains will be cremated and an announcement of his memorial service will be forthcoming.
Memorials may be made in Richard's memory through the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven.
