Richard G. Mattern, 81, of East Market Street, Beavertown, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born March 19, 1936, in rural Middleburg, a son of the late Melvin Sr. and Katie (Gift) Mattern. He was married to the former Madeline E. Wagner who survives.
Richard attended school in McClure.
He worked throughout his life at the Beavertown Weaving Mill and also the Beavertown Brick Plant.
He attended Christ Church, Beaver Springs, a member of the Beaver Springs Fire Company for more than 35 years and a member of the National Rifle Association.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie E. and Rick Arentz, of Florida and Teresa A. and Wade DeHaas, of Shamokin Dam; one son, Shawn B. Mattern, of Beavertown; six grandchildren, Garrett, Logan, Caleb, Hannah, Cody and Cherokee; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clark Mattern and Melvin Mattern Jr.; and one sister, Janet Bachman.
He was preceded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating.
Burial will follow in the Troxelville Union Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
