Rhoda Sheaffer Johnson, 70, of Mount Pleasant Mills, died on Dec. 20, 2016, at 9:55 p.m. at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and James Martin, where she resided for the last 22 years.
She was born Sept. 15, 1946, in Strasburg, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Elsie (Sheaffer) Johnson.
Rhoda attended schools in Quarryville area and had lived at the Laurelton State School for 15 years. She then lived in Lancaster till her move to Snyder County in 1993.
Rhoda had been employed at the Whispering Pines bakery for almost 15 years until her illness five months ago.
She was a member of Goodwill Mennonite Church, Thompsontown.
She is survived by her siblings, Linda and James Martin, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Rose Marie Snyder wife of Robert, of Ephrata, Dorothy Freidly wife of Leroy, of Denver, Bill Johnson husband of Kathy (Herr), of Quarryville, Jim Johnson husband of Jane Ethel, of Lexington, Ky., and Faye Johnson, of Farmersville; nieces and nephews, Robin Snyder, Rosanna Brubacker, Jonathan Martin, Conrad Martin, Stephanie, Jesse, and Anthony Johnson.
Rhoda was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Catherine and Ruth Ann Johnson; two brothers, Charles and David Johnson; and a niece, Rebecca Snyder.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Millerstown Mennonite Church, 731 Raccoon Valley Road, Millerstown. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, followed by a viewing at the Millerstown Mennonite Church. Officiating will be the Goodwill Mennonite Church Ministry.
Burial will be in the Goodwill Mennonite Church Cemetery, Thompsontown.
The George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills is assisting the family with the arrangements.
