Reader Moten, Jr., 76, of Haynes, Ark., died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 15, 1941, in Haynes, Ark., a son of the late Reader Sr. and Lular Bell (Brown) Moten. On Feb. 18, 1960, Reader married the former Shirley Scott and they celebrated 38 years of marriage together until her death on Jan. 28, 1999

Reader worked as a truck driver for most of his life.
He was a member of Revival Tabernacle Church, Watsontown and Union Missionary Baptist Church in Haynes, and had served as an usher for both churches.
He enjoyed playing checkers, listening to blues music, watching Jerry Springer and eating at Chinese restaurants. He was a D.J. in his younger years best known as 'Dr. Phil Good' but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Reader is survived by three sons Aundre Moten, of Dallas, Pa., Frederick Moten, of Coal Township, and Reader J. Moten III, of Milton; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Sherry A. and William Curtis, of Baltimore, Md., Kim Y. and Abdul Ali, of Wilmington, Del., April A. and Paul Woodton, of Williamsport, and Lisa R. Moten, of Williamsport; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lessie Mayo, of Haynes, Nellie Ward and Dorothy Ann Moten, both of Marianna, Arkansas.
In addition to his parents and wife, Reader was preceded in death by one son, Tyrone Moten.

A public viewing will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., Saturday at Revival Tabernacle Church, 960 Susquehanna Trail, Watsontown, followed by the funeral at 6, with Pastor James Bond officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.

Arrangements are by the Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front St., Milton.
