Ralph Galen Heintzelman Sr., 81, of Saw Mill Road, Beavertown, passed away on Aug. 1, 2019, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1938, in Mount Pleasant Mills, a son of the late William and Mae (Newman) Heintzelman. On Feb. 1, 1959, he married the former Helen M. Lauver who preceded him in death on April 21, 2012.

Ralph was a 1956 graduate of West Snyder High School.
After high school he started working as a mechanic at Super Service Garage. In the late 1960s, he caught the racing bug and for the next five decades he built and worked wrenching on sprint cars and pro stock cars winning numerous championships and gaining him a national reputation. In 2011, he was inducted into the York County Racing Hall of Fame.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors especially hunting and fishing and also story telling.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Daisy Heintzelman and Ralph "Peanut" Jr. and Lori Heintzelman; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six siblings.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Heintzelman and six siblings.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Messiah Lutheran Church, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Matthew Schuster officiating.
Burial will follow in the Troxelville Union Cemetery.

My sincere sympathy to all the family. My heart hurts that I can't make it to say my goodbyes. my memories of Ralph will always stay close in my heart. A wonderful ex father-in- law, grandfather of my children, great grandfather of my grandchildren. Thank you for always welcoming me as part of the family, you will be truly missed by us all. I write this with a heavy heart for your loss. Ralph was a mechanical wizard. I watched him do his magic on the Bogar's 99 and many others.
I carry many wonderful memories of Ralph.

Met Ralphie in the 60’s & became very good friends thru the years During the Paxton/ Heintzelman years we spent a lot of days & nites together creating a lot of memorable moments. Thanks for the memories Ralphie. RIP
