Phyllis's Story

Phyllis E. Voneida, 93, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at her home on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018.
She was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late William E. and Edna E. (Good) Feirick. On May 9, 1943, she married Glenn G. Voneida who preceded her on March 9, 2005.

Phyllis was a 1943 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
She was a buyer for Ebert's 5&10 in Selinsgrove for 22 years. In 1971, they moved to Mechanicsburg where she was employed by Hall's Motor Transit Company for 14 years.
She was a life member and a Past Matron of Lafayette Chamber of the Eastern Star in Selinsgrove. She was also a Mother Advisor to the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the Harrisburg Women's Traffic Club.
Phyllis enjoyed pinochle, bridge, reading, watching old movies, and most of all, spending time with her family. Phyllis and Glenn spent their winters in Florida and the summer months at their cottage in Shady Nook.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Harold Dreese of Mechanicsburg; two granddaughters, Tammie Dreese and her partner, Louise Lynch of Arnold, Md., and Kelly Cook and her husband Donald of Mechanicsburg; one great-grandson, Alex Cook of Mechanicsburg; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Lillian Feirick of Ephrata; one sister-in-law, Linda Hartman of Kreamer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Daniel Hartman; and her brother, Roger Hartman.

Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11, with Chaplain Dann Caldwell officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Cincotta and Sharon Rosado of Fisher Road Family Practice, Dr. Michael Smith of Pinnacle Cardiology, and the entire staff of Homeland Hospice, especially Hannah and Stacey, for their care and compassion.
