Phyllis's Story

Phyllis S. Morrison, 93, of Selinsgrove, passed away at Graysonview on Oct. 3, 2017.
She was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Sugartown, a daughter of the late John W. and Helen (Cloud) Schmitt.
"Phyl" was an honor roll student at Willistown Elementary School and a 1942 graduate of Tredyffrin-Easton High School where she excelled in hockey, basketball, and tennis.
She was a member of a Presbyterian church for 76 years, with her last home at First Presbyterian Church of Sunbury.
During World War II, she served as an observer for the Army Aircraft Warning Service.
On Nov. 9, 1946, she married the love of her life, James A. Morrison who passed in May of 2008.
She had a 30-year career in the banking business, retiring from M&T Bank.
Phyl enjoyed her family, swimming, music, reading, crossword puzzle, pets, vacationing in Spring and Fall, and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
There are not enough words to describe her tremendous faith, love, and strength. We will all miss her so much.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Sheryl L. Rathfon, of Selinsgrove; granddaughters, Jennifer Stahl and her husband Shanen, and Katy Boyle and her fiance Michael; six great-grandchildren; niece, Wheezie and Mark Thomas; loving great-niece, Tricia Salter; sister-in-law, Carolyn Morrison, of West Virginia; and brother-in-law, Earl Johnson, of Florida.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Gary Morrison; sons-in-law, Roy Louis-Charles Jr. and John M. Rathfon II; daughter-in-law, Lonna Salter; siblings; Eleanor, Emily and Buddy; and four nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 238 Market St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Lisa Kraus officiating.
Interment will follow ain Shreiner's Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
