Paul's Story

Text size

Paul Glenn Walters, 80, of Mountain Top, Pa., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in the comfort of his own home.

Born and raised in Ringtown, March 16, 1937, he is a son of the late William and Derrella (Briggs) Walters.

Paul married his beloved Janet L. Fettermen on July 4, 1960, in a two-day celebration on the family farm, complete with fireworks.

He raised his family in Elysburg, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America as both a scout and scout master. He graduated from Cunningham Township High School.

Paul was very well liked wherever he went. While working at PP&L as a welder, he was known for his fun-spirited practical jokes. Whenever he caught someone in a prank, his gleeful chuckle gave his nickname, Paul "Hee Hee" Walters. He was also a favorite while working at Knoebels Grove in Elysburg. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by three children, Kevin, husband of Alexandra Walters of Feeding Hills, Mass., Karla, wife of Ted Grozio of Mountain Top, and Kelly, wife of David Hilscher of Poughkeepski, N.Y.; and grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher, Matthew, Evan, Ted, Olivia, Taylor, Nathaniel, Jamie, and Nicole.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Frank, and sister Derrella.

Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Rothermel-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Elysburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Reverend JP Bohanan officiating.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the United Methodist Cemetery, Ringtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 63 N Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.

Rothermel-Heizenroth Funeral & Cremation is in charge of the arrangements. Charles Heizenroth III, F.D. Joe Murray, Supervisor. http://www.elysburgfuneral.com/
