Paul R. Deetz Sr., 81, formerly of Beaver Springs, passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 27, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born June 30, 1936, in Salford Township, Montgomery County, a son of the late Rev. Earl L. Sr. and Edna R. (Leedom) Deetz. On June 30, 1956, he married the former Sarah Jane Zechman who survives.
Paul was employed by Trailco. Dorsey Trailer Manufacturing and also did painting until an accident caused him to be disabled 42 years ago.
He attended the Beavertown God's Missionary Church. Before his accident he enjoyed hunting and traveling and since his accident, cooking.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years, who is a resident of RiverWoods, Lewisburg, are one son and daughter-in-law, Paul Jr. and Mary Deetz, of Middleburg; two granddaughters, Elisabeth Deetz and Elicia Witmer and her husband Anthony; two sisters, Janet Enders and Lois Smerek; and two brothers, David Deetz and Samuel Deetz.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in infancy; and three brothers, Roland, Gerald, and Earl Deetz Jr.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at Marlow Hall at RiverWoods Senior Living Community in Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at noon with Chaplain Peter F. Geschwindner officiating.
Burial will be in the Beavertown God's Missionary Church Cemetery.
