Paul J. Cotner
He was born Feb. 10, 1948, in Danville, a son of the late Ralph J. and Annette (Mottern) Cotner.
Paul graduated from Danville High School in 1967. He received his R.N. degree in nursing in 1970 at Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing and later graduated from Anesthesia School at Geisinger Medical Center in 1972. Paul received his bachelor's degree in nursing from Duquesne University in 1992 and his master's degree in nursing from Susquehanna University in 1993.
Paul was employed as a nurse anesthetist at Geisinger Medical Center from 1970-2010.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Danville PA where he and his wife were instrumental in starting the "Bells of Joy" Bell Choir Ministry enjoyed by so many today. He was also a member of The Bloomsburg Elks.
Paul thoroughly enjoyed traveling and loved animals. His spirit of light-heartedness, generosity and passion for God will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Carol Gable Cotner, whom he married Sept. 5, 1970; one sister, Nancy E. Cotner Vandergrift and her husband Gary of Mechanicsburg; one niece, Lori Lee McCaffery; and two nephews, Lawrence G. McCaffery and James P. McCaffery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Paul's life at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville (Off 642 East) with the Rev. Dawes J. Dunham officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Harry H. Wonderland. Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, D.C. 20090-7251, or online at Gideons.org, or because of his love of animals to the Danville SPCA, 1467 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville.
