Patricia "Pat" Persing, of Sunbury, passed away at home with her loving family beside her at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.
She was born in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Helen Smith. Her death breaks a marital union of 40 years to Charles "Juney" Persing.
Pat retired from the Daily Item after 30 years of service.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and going for Thursday morning breakfast with her many friends. She also admired her many birds she had over the years. Pat cherished the time spent with her family and loved ones.
She is survived by one son, Bernard Pennycoff of Sunbury, his sons, Ernest and Boomer, and his daughter, Mandee Hare and husband Sam, and their daughter, Mary Anne, all of Sunbury; grandchildren, Jonathan R. Pennycoff and Justin, of Camphill, Jessica and Carlos Ramos and their three daughters, Kaitlyn, Alexandra and Lilyana; Tiffany A. Pennycoff and George and their two children, Samantha and Josh, all of Sunbury; Anne Pennycoff and her children, of Ohio; one sister, Margaret Anne of Chambersbug; a special friend she considered a grandson, Ralph E. Thompson; and a former daughter-in-law, Brenda L. Buckles, of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence E. Pennycoff in 2015, and Arthur B. Pennycoff in 2017.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, followed by a Celebration of Life social at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Susquehanna Ave., Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made in Pat's memory to the Geisinger Hospice, Danville, PA 17821, whom we would like to thank for all they did for Patricia and the family during her illness.
