Patricia W. "Pat" Hummel, 88, of Selinsgrove, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in her home with family close by.
She was born in 1928, in Selinsgrove, a daughter of the late Esther V. (Phillips) and John W. Weeks. Pat was married to George A. Hummel who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1987.
Pat was employed as an aide at the Selinsgrove Elementary School for more than 20 years before retiring. Prior to that, her lifelong love of reading led her to volunteer at the Selinsgrove Public Library. Her true passion in life was her family.
She was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church in Selinsgrove."Gring," as she was affectionately called, loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she, in turn, was loved by them and their friends.
Pat is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George A. Jr. and Wendy Hummel, of Winfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Richard C. Kenner Jr., of Allentown; five grandchildren, Alaina Hummel, George Hummel III, Elizabeth Hummel, Kate Langlois and her husband Bart, and Rick Kenner and his wife Jocelyn. Gring is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, Chase Carter (son of Elizabeth); Rylee, Kayla, and Madelyn Kenner, and Benjamin and Aberdeen Langlois.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Polly Wilcox and Meg Adams.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
