Patricia's Story

Patricia A. "Pat" Hoffmann, 79, of Shamokin Dam, and most recently of State College, passed away peacefully at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at the Hearthside Rehabilitation Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 10, 1938, in Clairton, a daughter of the late John D. Moses and Susan (Kuklish).

Pat was a 1956 graduate of Brownsville High School.
After high school, Pat worked for West Penn Power Company in Brownsville. On June 14, 1958, Pat married Robert O. Hoffmann Sr., celebrating more than 55 years of caring for and nurturing a family. She returned to the work force supporting the Susquehanna Valley Health Care Consortium and Sunbury Community Hospital as the directors' executive secretary and Notary Public, retiring in 2006.
Pat was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Selinsgrove. She volunteered at the hospital and church for many years, making funnel cakes at the Love and Care Street Fair and teaching religious education classes.
In her spare time, Pat had many hobbies including quilting, nnitting, sewing, cooking, baking and shopping. Pat also enjoyed spending many hours with Bob traveling to model railroading shows and finding the next quilting or knitting project. Pat loved to spend time will all of her grandchildren and her first great-grandchild.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy M. and Jeffrey Ritter, of State College, Cynthia A. and David Smith, of Dunmore; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert O. Hoffmann Jr., of State College, Daniel P. and Trudy Hoffmann, of Sugarloaf; nine grandchildren, Christopher J. Ritter and wife Kristi, Steven E. Ritter and wife Amanda, Joshua C. Marith and wife Josephine, Michael D. Smith, Abigail C. Smith, Sarah M. Smith, Benjamin W. Hoffmann, Katelynn M. Hoffmann, Jennifer L. Hoffmann; one great-grandchild, Hazel A. Ritter; one sister and brother-in-law, Nadine (Fabel) and Rudy Medved, of Washington, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two grandsons, Nathan J. Ritter and Andrew D. Hoffmann; and one sister, Barbara M. (Moses) Alexander.

Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 16, at the V. L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at noon with Father Pius as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Shreiner's Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat's memory may be made to Amy Ritter, 152 Kuhns Lane, State College, PA 16801. All contributions will be used to support the nursing staff at the Hearthside Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
