Only Ruthanne (Noll) Rishel, 92, of 240 Scottsdale Drive, Mifflinburg, formerly of Geneva, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2018, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, after a brief illness.
She was born July 25, 1925, in New Columbia, a daughter of the late Bryson C. and Edith M. (Derr) Noll. On March 9, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio, she married Percy Franklin Rishel who preceded her in death in April, 1988.
Only was a 1941 graduate of Milton High School.
She was employed by Geneva Metal Wheel Co., East Ohio Gas Co., and retired from the Union County Courthouse.
She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church, West Milton, a 50-year member of Eastern Star and Past Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls in Geneva. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and past advisor to Legion Junior Girls in Toledo, a member and past president of Athenaeum Club and Buggy Museum in Mifflinburg and the Milton Chapter of AARP. She served 25 years as secretary of the Church Hill Cemetery Board and 20 years as a board member of the Selective Service System for Union County.
Only loved to cook, raise flowers, read, play cards, knit prayer shawls for church and sew blankets for World Relief and the Linus Project. Her annual vacation was spent with her daughter attending the reunions of her late husband's World War II Ninth Infantry Division Association for the past 65 years and she was a faithful visitor and companion of family and friends who were shut-ins.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith Janine Rishel of Ellicott City, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William in 1933, Quay in 1943, and Floyd in 2008.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with an Eastern Star service at 8:45, at the John H. Shaw Funeral Home, 801 Market St., Lewisburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at United in Christ Lutheran Church, 1875 Churches Road, West Milton, followed by the funeral at 11.
Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery.
