Olive's Story

Olive Lenore Lauver Hibbs, 87, of Mount Pleasant Mills, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at her home.
She was born June 15, 1930, on the family farm in Snyder County near Richfield, a daughter of the late Cloyd and Stella (Derr) Apple.
On Sept. 29, 1990, she married Clarence R. Hibbs who survives. The couple were married for 27 years until her passing. Olive was also the wife of the late Ivan P. Lauver who preceded her in death on June 6, 1978.

Olive was a 1946 graduate of Freeburg High School.
She was formerly employed at the Richfield Shirt factory and assisted her first husband Ivan with the family farm. She later assisted her late husband Ivan with the operation of his trucking business, Ivan Lauver Trucking until his passing in 1978. Olive then became part owner with her son Gerald of the family business, Ivan Lauver & Son, Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, where she also did secretarial duties until her retirement in 1990.
She was a member of the Richfield Mennonite Church, now Richfield Life Ministries Church, where she was a pianist, a member of the choir, and was secretary for the Sunday school. Olive's additional memberships included the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary of Juniata County and the Fremont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Olive loved to be with her family, attending St. Peter's Community Church with her husband Clarence, sewing, crocheting, reading poetry, and singing old hymns.

In addition to her husband Clarence, she is survived by her three children, Gerald I. Lauver and wife Onie, Cynthia E. Hokenbrough Keckler and husband Tom, and Candace K. Benner and husband Jim; stepdaughter, Judy I. Arnold and husband Dave; a stepdaughter-in-law, Rileen Hibbs Heckman and husband Dave, a stepson-in-law, Tom Dressler; grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Michelle, Ben and wife Natasha, Jon and wife Mandy, Zach and wife Heidi, Heather and husband David, Nate and wife Beth, Lincoln and wife Leah, Alexa and husband Brian, Cameron, and Austin; stepgrandchildren, Tessa and husband David, Jim, Christy, Curt and wife Jill, Kevin and wife Karen, and Stephanie and husband Justin; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Sheaffer and husband Gerald, Glendora Lauver, and Janet Apple; sisters-in-law, Arlene Apple and Aretta Apple; a sister-in-law, Caralyn VanHorn and husband Gary; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Olive was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Marlin D. Hokenbrough; stepson, Gerald Hibbs; stepdaughter, Linda Dressler; stepgranddaughter, Michele Hibbs; and seven brothers and sisters, Mary Hoffman and husband Nevin, Helen Hoffman and husband Merrill, Elmer Apple, Albert Apple and wife Erma, Reno Apple and wife Nora Ann, Naomi Graybill and husband Earl and Herbert Apple; brother-in-law, Clayton Lauver; sister-in-law, Orpha Mengle and husband Kenneth; and brother-in-law, R. Landis Lauver and wife Dorothy.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the funeral service at 1, all from the Richfeld Life Ministries Church, 167 Church St., Richfield, with Pastor Aaron Benner officiating, and assisting will be Pastor Brittin Stimeling and her grandson, Pastor Jon Lauver.
Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills.
