Ned Allen Boonie Sr., 81, of Walker Street, McClure, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.
He was born Oct. 26, 1937, in McClure, a son of the late Carl W. and Rosaline (Baker) Boonie. On May 5, 1961, he married the former Betty M. Williams who survives.

Ned was a 1955 graduate of McClure High School and served in the Army from 1960-1962.
After returning home from the Army, Ned worked alongside his father who started his own business in 1937 selling coal, supplementing income during summer with painting and a moving business. Boonie and Son Inc. expanded to selling heating oil in the 1950s and opened fuel stations after 1997.
Ned was a member of Trinity Lutheran, McClure where he served on Church Council, as Lay Minister, choir member and Sunday school teacher. He also served two terms on the Borough Council and was a member of the McClure Fire Company. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, cooking and was known for his potato candy. He was a past 4-H and Scout leader, however the main love of his life after the Lord was his wife and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Ned Jr. and Denise Boonie, Leann Pheasant, Betti Jane and Kim Freed, Suzanne and Joe Bratton, Cretia and Scott Stimely, Rose Flood and friend Ed Harrold, and Dan and Arlene Mancino; grandchildren, Colleen, Ryan, Amanda, Daniel, Amanda, Abigail, Zachary, Rachel, Sarah, Hannah, Michael and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Mary, Oden, Layla, Valor, Rocco, Luca, Reed, Abigail, Henry and Noah; two brothers and sisters-in- law, Ed and Carol Boonie of McClure and Ron and Connie Boonie of Honesdale; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Gerald Goss of McClure, Judy and Rev. Paul Zieber of Mechanicsburg, Rose and George Snyder of Richfield and Lou Ann and John Finizio of Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jarvis Bowersox.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Beaver Lutheran Church, 1221 Gross Road, Beaver Springs, followed by the funeral at 4, with the Rev. Lisa Schuster officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in McClure Union Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.

Betty, I/m so sorry about Ned passing away. I really loved him a lot. I know you did as well. He was truly a great friend to me. I remember all the good times we had together especially in 4-H. You two were really great in that organization. I know you will see him later, but, you still have the right to mourn his passing. Take care. I really do think of you often.

I am so sorry and have many good memories from childhood on up. I remember visiting your home as a child and playing with Betti Jane. I am so sorry I could not make it to his viewing but we did not get back from Kanobels on time. Prayers going out to the rest of the family.
