Myron Albert Kratzer, 88, of Middleburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Middleburg, a son of the late Milton and Lera (Erdley) Kratzer and was raised by his late uncle and aunt, Henry and Vertie Straub. He was married to the former Gladys K. Straub who preceded him on Feb. 12, 2013.
Myron was an Army veteran of the Korean War and received a Purple Heart and the Korean Service Medal.
He retired from Yorktowne Kitchens, Mifflinburg and was previously employed at Wood Mode Inc., Kreamer.
He was a member of Christian Union Church, Mount Pleasant Mills and the American Legion Post 957, New Berlin.
Myron enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his ATV, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Hockenbroch, of Selinsgrove; two granddaughters, Kimberly Walter, of Montandon and Sarah Hockenbroch, of Selinsgrove; two great-grandsons, Tyler Walter and Justin Russell; one brother and sister-in-law, Ira and Nancy Lessman, of Selinsgrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Kleckner; and one brother, John Earl Kratzer.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, followed by the funeral at 2, at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes Inc., 9366 Route 35, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Daryl Kuhns officiating.
Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg, will full military honors accorded by the Selinsgrove American Legion Victory Post 25 and the Selinsgrove Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631.
