Miles S. Kratzer Jr., 77, of East Ridge Road, Middleburg, passed away on Monday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2017, at his home.
He was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Penn Township, Snyder County, a son of the late J. Miles and Anna Mae (Seebold) Kratzer. His passing breaks a marital union of 59 years to the former Joyce K. Herman, who survives.
Miles attended Hill End School.
He was a farmer all of his life and for several years had worked for Zechman Well Drilling.
He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin, the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association, the New Berlin Fire Company, and the Reliance Fire Company Ambulance.
Miles enjoyed doing puzzles and making pot holders. He had an extensive farm toy and truck collection. He loved horses and collected horse memorabilia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Randall J. Kratzer, of Middleburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Jamie J. and Chris Ray, of Middleburg; daughter-in-law, Bobbie D. Kratzer, of Selinsgrove; one brother, Marlin R. "Bobby" Kratzer, of Middleburg.
He was preceded in death by one son, James L. Kratzer on Nov. 20, 2014; two brothers, Ray Kratzer and one in infancy; and one sister in infancy.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor James Cope and Pastor Alice Rauch officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.
