Mildred E. Endres, 94, of Lewisburg, passed away at 8:27 a.m., Dec. 28, 2017, at Leighton Place in Williamsport, of CHF.
She was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y., the second of six children born to the late Rose and Charles Dietz.
Mildred attended St. Matthias Catholic School in Ridgewood, St. Elizabeth Catholic School in South Ozone Park, and John Adams High School in Ozone Park, Queens, N.Y. Here she met her future husband, Jay Earl Endres. After he served in World War II, they married on Feb. 23, 1946.
After living in Connecticut and Syracuse, N.Y., they relocated to Lewisburg, where they were active members at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jay passed away in 2010 after 64 years of marriage.
Mildred will be remembered for her devotion to her family and especially for her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sisters, Muriel McConnach and Elizabeth Ippolito; three children and their spouses, Dr. Kathleen and Robert Schanbacher, Dr. Jay and Nancy Endres, and Sherry and John Hanstein; nine grandchildren and their spouses; and 11 great- grandchildren.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, 801 Market St., Lewisburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Mark Wilke as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
