Michael Sebasovich, 86, of Sunbury, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his grandchildren and family friends (Melinda Sebasovich, Jason Sebasovich, Rachael Sebasovich, Danielle Sebasovich, Kate Reid, Michael Kolasa and James Cosby.)
He was born in Marian Heights on July 19, 1930. His parents were Mike Sebasovich Sr., from Russia (born 1890) and Kate Talpqsz (Sebasovich) from Austria (born 1891).
He married the former Jacquelynn Sue Metgzer (Sebasovich) on Oct. 18, 1958, (55 years of a loving marriage) who he was proceeded in death by.
They only had one son together, Michael A. Sebasovich, who he proceeded in death. He is survived by Melinda Sebasovich, Brian Sebasovich, Jason Sebasovich, Rachael Sebasovich, Danielle Sebasovich (Ziad); and two great-grandchildren, Kinley Sebasovich and Theo Sebasovich. He is also survived by a brother, Pete; and sister, Annie.
He was proceeded in death by brothers, John, Joe and Steve; and sisters, Mary, Vicky, Dorothy, and twin sister Olga.
After graduating school, he was in the Army with the 83rd Battalion of Engineers who built bridges.
Michael retired from UGI gas company after 23 years of service. In his free time he enjoyed telling jokes, making everyone smile and laugh, playing the accordion, and spending time with his son, grandchildren, and loved ones. Michael also enjoyed hunting with his hunting buddies, fishing with his fishing buddies, spending time in his amazing blueberry garden, giving away his blueberries, and spending time at Wal-Mart people watching.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. where those attending will all participate in a Celebratory of Life funeral and a celebration beer toast (if you like).
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
Join the family for a Celebration of Life Party honoring Michael Sebasovich at Grace Lutheran Church, Spruce Street, Sunbury, at noon Saturday, immediately following burial. There will be food and drinks and telling stories and memories of this amazing man.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make monetary donations to the great-grandchildren's college fund in Mike's memory given to Melinda Sebasovich or Jason Sebasovich.
