Michael J. Fantanarosa Michael J. Fantanarosa, 78, of Kulpmont, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Geisinger Medical Center.
He was born in Kulpmont, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Saint Mary) Fantanarosa.
Mike is a graduate of Kulpmont High School, class of 1956. He then went on to graduate from Pennsylvania State University with an Associate Degree in Engineering.
He worked for a number of years for Kennedy Van Saun and US Radium designing instrument panels used at the time in airplanes. He then returned to Kulpmont and established his own construction company which he led for more than 35 years, specializing in masonry, excavating, snow removal and general contracting.
He was a faithful and devoted member of Holy Angels Parish in Kulpmont where he was a member of the choir and where he chaired the annual parish picnic fundraiser for a number of years.
Civically, Mike was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, an active member in the local UNICO Chapter, and a lifetime member of the East End Fire Company and the Elks. He was also a past President of the Kulpmont Lions Club where he is most noted for organizing the annual Kulpmont Halloween Parade for more than 30 years.
Mike was an avid golfer, piano and accordion player and enjoyed boating.
He was most known for his kindness, generosity and positive, energetic personality. He was a devoted father and grandfather offering support and love to all the lives he touched in his 78 years. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him well.
Mike is survived by his three children and their spouses, Maria Fantanarosa and husband Tim Morrow, of Mason, OH, Alicia and husband Peter McGowan, of Bryn Mawr, and Michael Fantanarosa and wife Denise, of Mahoney City; five grandchildren; one brother, Nicholas Fantanarosa, of Coatesville; one sister, Loretta Muldowney, of Murrells Inlet, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the Rosary being recited at 8:30 p.m. in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, Supervisor. There will not be a viewing on Monday morning. Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a Funeral Mass to be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Angels Parish, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont.
