Michael F. Carter, slipped away peacefully to his mountain home, Sunday, September 10, 2017, while surrounded by his family.
Michael was born in Lock Haven on August 30, 1950, the son of Walter F. Carter and Gloria M. Carter.
He graduated from the Lock Haven High School in 1968.
Michael loved his family and many friends and that love was returned by all who knew him.
He was an artisan and a craftsman, self-employed for more than thirty-five years as a sign painter. He was responsible for many of the signs in the Susquehanna Valley over the years at locations such as Country Cupboard, Brookpark, Spring Run and Bucknell.
He loved photographytaking photographs of family, friends and nature was a favorite pastime. Michael, Gwen, and Steven spent many hours together traveling almost every road of the Bald Eagle State Forest.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his life-partner of 14½ years, Gwen Lemmerman; a son, Steven Michael Carter; children of life-partner, Brian and Beth Brough, Jayme and Andrew Dent, Erin Brough Gunter; and grandchildren, Hannah Brough, Sophie Dent, Jacob Gunter and Thomas Michael Dent.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Michael's family on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, and to wear Penn State attire. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Donations in honor of Michael may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
