Merl Tobias, 88, of Elizabethville, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Community General Hospital, Harrisburg.
Merl was born in East Cameron Township, on January 16, 1929, a son of the late Edna (Oxenrider) and Ira Tobias.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church Leck Kill, PA .
He served stateside with the US Army where he was a canvas and leather maker.
He worked in various industries in the local area and retired from Guilford Mills in Pine Grove in 1992.
Merl loved his grandchildren and looked forward to baby-sitting them. He enjoyed talking on his cellphone, visiting with friends and family, and daily trips to Walmart.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verna K. (Hess) Tobias, who passed away in May of 2015.
Merl is survived by a step daughter, Sheila A., wife of Douglas Vandernick; a step son,Stephen Bressler; three sisters, Betty Paul, of Sunbury; Martha, wife of Robert Erdman, of Herndon; Mary Snyder, of Dornsife; two brothers, John Tobias, of Gratz; Marvin, husband of Brenda Tobias, of Pitman; four grandchildren, Dylan, Marissa, Derek and McKenna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11 AM at Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church, Leck Kill. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am at the church.
Interment will follow at St. John's Reformed Cemetery, Leck Kill, PA.
