Melvin Noll, 91, of West Milton, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
Born in Lewisburg on March 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Norman and Retta (Taylor) Noll. He was married to the former Elizabeth Cromley. His death breaks a marital union of 72 years.
Melvin attended Milton schools but quit to enlist in the Navy during World War II. He was a crane operator for ACF retiring with more than 40 years of service.
Melvin was a member of the American Legion Post 182 in Lewisburg and St. Paul's United Church of Christ, West Milton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife. Together they had visited every state. They visited the continental states by travel trailer. They also spent many years camping at the Gray Squirrel Campground, Beavertown.
Melvin and his wife were also avid fans of Lewisburg High School sports, especially football and wrestling, attending these events well into their 80s.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Noll, of West Milton and Thomas Noll and his fiancé Karen Inch and her children Jessica, Michael and Stephanie, of Selinsgrove; two grandsons, Randy Noll, of Pottsville and Brenton Noll, of Painted Post, N.Y.; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Noll.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Noll and Norman Noll; and two sisters, Denise Ebersol and Corrine Twist.
Burial with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Harmony Cemetery. After the burial, friends and relatives will be received from 11 a.m. to noon at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 433 High St., West Milton. A memorial service will begin at noon with Pastor Timothy Hogan-Palazzo officiating.
