Mary C. Shirk, 83, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born June 12, 1933, in Monroe Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late William and Susan (Maurer) Mull. On May 19, 1950, she married Carl M. Shirk who preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2014.
Mary attended the Fisher's School, rural Selinsgrove.
Her employement history included Nite Kraft, J.K. Supply, the Selinsgrove High School cafeteria, the Golden Corral Restaurant, and Weis Markets in Hummels Wharf.
She attended Christ Community United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, and prior to the merger was a member of Shreiner's Methodist Church. At Christ Church she was active with the United Methodist Women, the Agape Sunday school class and the Busy Bee's. She was a longtime member of TOPS.
Mary enjoyed cooking and dining out with her husband, especially at church suppers. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan D. Lengel, of Etters; six grandchildren, Nichole Shirk Mendoza, Michael Shirk, Erin Loeb, Glenda Wetzel, Breanna Shirey, and Aubrey Shirk; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael W. Shirk; three brothers, Harold, Lloyd, and Robert Mull; and three sisters, Blanche Benfer, Evelyn Bailey, and Ruth Shirk.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3939 Park Road, Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. Arthur Montgomery and the Rev. Daniel Eyster officiating.
Burial will be in Shreiner's Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
Contributions to honor Mary's memory may be made to Christ Community United Methodist Church.
