Mary P. Shawver


Mary P. Shawver, 87, of West Specht Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehab, Lewistown.
She was born Nov. 24, 1931, in Paxtonville, a daughter of the late Oscar W. and Claire (Benfer) Pheasant. She was married to Eugene R. Shawver who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1996.

Mary was a graduate of McClure High School.
Earlier in life she was employed at Kirby Manufacturing and later owned and operated Shawver's Odds and Ends in McClure for 15 years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure. Mary was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was also very active in helping out with community events.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, working in her vegetable and flower garden, and especially loved sitting on her porch talking with friends and family.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Heidi A. and Frank Stearns of Dillsburg; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Shawver of Selinsgrove; two sisters, Evelyn Stumpff of Selinsgrove and Mae Wagner of Beavertown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey E. Shawver; and one brother, Robert Douty.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, with the Rev. Lisa Schuster officiating.
Burial will follow in McClure Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 68, McClure, PA 17841.
