Mary Lou's Story
Mary Lou Knauss Berman passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, after a short illness.
A daughter of the late Sidney and Beverly (Fox) Knauss, she was born June 18, 1944, in Lewisburg, Pa.
Mary Lou was a 1962 graduate of Mifflinburg High School in Pennsylvania.
MaryLou and her family owned and operated the Icehouse in New Bern, N.C. for 15 years. Her life was devoted to animal rescue and she is credited with rescuing and caring for hundreds of stray cats and dogs. She was a beautiful person, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Ann Knauss Boop.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary; her sons and daughter-in-law, Lance and Samantha Wolfe, and Lincoln Wolfe; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Ben, Alexis, Alison and Luke; one great-granddaughter, Annaliese; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her feline family, Munchkin, Suki, Bella, Nicky, Misty, Leo, Cody, Nya, Mya and Tanner.
