Mary Edith Koch, 84, of 340 JPM Road, Apartment 104, Lewisburg, passed away at her home early Monday, September 4, 2017
A native of Sunbury, she was born June 17, 1933, a daughter of the late Warren A. Sr. and Dorothy Helen (Yeager) Rhoades. She was married to Paul Myron Koch and her death breaks a marital union of 66 years.
Mary was a graduate of the Milton High School.
She had worked as a notary public, at the Milton Shoe factory, Milton Greasy Spoon, Capitol Theater of Milton, and was a volunteer at the Sunbury Hospital, and retired from JPM, Lewisburg.
Mary enjoyed playing bingo, crossword puzzles, and word search. She wrote poems and won several awards for her poems, even being invited, with transportation paid, to recite her poems in Reno, Nevada and in Washington, D.C.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by eight children, Juanice E. O'Brien, Kathleen R. Hans, Paul A. Koch, Carol A. Willis, Ralph M. Koch, James M. Koch, Rose A. Seibert, adopted son, Andrew A. Koch; 19 grandchildren, Terry L. Parker, Tony L. Parker, Patty J. Ford, Elaina Davis, Jennifer L. Koch, Janelle L. Koch, Daryll P. Koch, Larissa Willis, Mary Kay Strasser, Ann M. Koch, Edna Musser, Eliza J. Koch, Patricia Koch, James M. Koch Jr., Amber Koch, Michael Koch, Amanda S. Mitchell, Kristy Vittoria and David Manley; and one sister, Nellie Nadzon.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda S. Pehowic; four brothers, Warren A. Jr., Morton L., Joseph H. and James F. Rhoades; and two sisters, Martha Oberlin and Ruth Grim.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
