Mary E. Eister, 89, of Northumberland, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born April 16, 1928, in Rife, a daughter of the late Walter and Pearl (Dubendorf) Bahner. On July 25, 1947, she married Frank C. Eister Jr. who preceded her in death on May 4, 1999.
Mary attended Sunbury High School and Trinity Lutheran Church, Northumberland.
Earlier in life she enjoyed crocheting but her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara E. Sechrist, of Northumberland; grandchildren, Nikki Kadryna and her husband Jim, and twins, Heidi and Heather Sechrist; great-grandchildren, twins, Isabella and Olivia Kadryna, and Alex Kadryna; one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Zereta Bahner, of Sunbury.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Elma Long and Gertrude Rhodes; two brothers, Elwood and Robert Bahner; and one son-in-law, Greg A. Sechrist.
Friends and family may visit from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. D. Elinor Allison officiating.
Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
