Mary Ellen Egli, 78, of New Berlin, entered into rest on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1940, in Beaver Springs, a daughter of the late Roy F. and Anna M. (Knouse) Lepley. On Aug. 11, 1957, in New Berlin, she married Jay A. Egli who survives.

Mary Ellen was a 1958 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
She was employed at Sun Area Technical Institute, where she worked in food service and preparation for 25 years.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin, where she served on the consistory, was a member of the choir, and was known as the "Big Cheese" of the kitchen operation. She served on the New Berlin Election Board, the New Berlin Activities Committee, the Heritage Association, and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mary Ellen enjoyed flowers, gardening, golfing, bowling, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 62 years, are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Alan R. Egli and partner Karen Yohn of Winfield, Steven J. and Melody Egli of Georgia, and Craig A. and Janice Egli of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Beth Ann Klingensmith and partner David MacArthur of Garnett Valley; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Eleanore Lepley of Ohio; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one stepgrandchild.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 326 Market St., New Berlin, followed by a memorial service at 11, with the Rev. James Cope officiating.

Just saw Mary Ellen's passing today. You all have my deepest sympathy! If I had seen it when it happened I would have been to the service. Loved Mary Ellen. She will b missed!

I have a bunch of Egli stories. All good. Mary Ellen was one of the first to welcome me to New Berlin when I moved there and rented from her son. Thank you, Mary Ellen for some great memories. My condolences to the entire family. Julie
